Chapter 2 Blog Post - Section 1

Describe the characteristics of transaction processing systems (TPS) and the roles they play in business.  Describe the characteristics of decision support systems (DSS) and how they benefit business. Explain customer relationship management (CRM) systems.

    Operational managers need systems that keep track of elementary activities and transaction of the organization, such as sales or cash deposits.
    (TPS) provide this kind of information.
    Transaction processing system is a computerized system that performs and records the daily routine transactions necessary to conduct business, such as hotel reservations, payroll, employee record keeping, and shipping.


    * DSS
    Decision-support systems
    Support more non-routine decision making. They focus on problem that are unique and rapidly changing, for which the procedure for arriving at a solution may not be fully predefined in advance.
    DSS use internal information
    The benefit from the DSS is to take fast decision for the company to be in good.


    * CRM
    Customer Relationship Management (CRM) to help manage their relationship with their customers. CRM system provide information to coordinate all of the business processes that deal with customers in sales, market, and service to optimize revenue, customer satisfaction, and customer retention. The information is to attract and retain the most profitable customers, provide better service to existing customer and increase sales.
